The Sixth Grade class is enjoying an exciting new class at Loyalsock Township Middle School( LTMS). They are currently collecting research on the events and news around LTMS. It is like a min-television news production and Mr. Lorson, their teacher, is instructing the students on the various stages of gathering newsworthy items, writing the script and then producing the program.
Once the students gather the information, they join together with the class to create a screenplay for the Tubesock show. During class, they plan, film , and produce a 2-5 minute television broadcast. After the show is complete they evaluate and critique the show based upon their current level of Video Production. The show outline consists of Events coming to the Middle school, Inspirational Quotes, Facts about this day in History, and Trends that are happening in the world. Students write the script, including commentary and their own style.
Students are assigned a research assignment for homework, and are expected to come to class and compile the research in the form of a typed screenplay. Once a screenplay is created, Students move to the production facility where the show is filmed and edited live. If students are successful with all facets of the show including: researched homework, screenplay production and filming, as well as exhibit a cooperative work ethic, they will have the chance to have their show placed on the LTMS website.
